TELEVISION AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW CURRICULUM: ETHNIC MUSICS

ABSTRACT

The study of non‐European musics is not widely established in the United Kingdom. A project at the University of Cambridge to establish an Ethnomusic Audio‐Visual Archive has made use of television to record performance material, lecture presentations and self‐instructional material, and the medium has in turn influenced the development of material for this new subject area
