Abstract
This paper reports on the activities of the European Information Centre for the Further Education of Teachers (EIC‐FET) in Prague. EIC‐FET involvement in conferences held with UNESCO or other international organisations is reviewed. EIC‐FET multilingual publications within Charles University or UNESCO series and the structure of the EIC‐FET documentation file and the nature of its information and services are discussed. The development of the European INSTEP database and its linkage to the UNESCO/IBE international Network of Educational Information is described. The international survey of EIC‐FET users shows their profiles as ‘recipients’ and ‘suppliers’ of information and their geographical structure in comparison with the provenance of information sources. The salient perspectives of EIC‐FET as a specialised resource and reference centre in Europe as identified in international meetings are described.
