Summary
This research has been undertaken in the light of the worrying increase in failures and withdrawals during the first year of study of the students in the different levels of teacher training organised in our institute.
We do not claim to give an exhaustive explanation of the reasons behind the success/failure pattern in the training of future teachers. In fact, our study is limited to an analysis of the incidence of certain easily identifiable objective parameters in scholastic results. The statistical analysis of the data accumulated and the interpretation of the results is divided into three parts.
The first consists of a description of various characteristics of the student body: sex, age, sector and socio‐economic level of parents, areas of residence, previous academic record, higher education before entering IESP, work repeated at IESP.
The second part of the study is a description of the correlation obtained between the success/failure variables and the different characteristics mentioned above.
The final part consists of an analysis by the chi‐square method of the relationships existing between success/failure and the other variables.
Cette recherche a été entreprise devant l'augmentation inquiétante des échecs et fuites durant la première année d'étudiants, qui à différents niveaux suivent les formations d'enseignants organisées par notre établissement.
Nous ne prétendons pas donner une explication exhaustive des causes dans le modèle réussite/échec en formation d'enseignants. Notre étude se borne en effet à l'analyse de l'incidence de certains paramètres objectifs facilement identifiables dans les résultats scolaires. L'analyse statistique des données recueillies et l'interprétation des résultats est présentée en trois parties:
La première consiste en une description des caractéristiques différentes du corps étudiant: sexe, âge, classe et niveau socio‐économique des parents, lieu de résidence, bulletin scolaire antérieur, niveau d'études avant l'entrée à l'IESP, redoublement d'une classe à l'IESP.
La deuxième partie de l'étude est une description des corrélations obtenues entre les variables réussite/échec et les différentes caractéristiques ci‐dessus énumérées.
La troisième partie enfin fait une analyse en méthode “chi‐square” des relations existant entre réussite/échec et les autres variables.
