The State, Curriculum and Teacher Education in Portugal: 1926‐1981

Summary

This article looks at the contribution that education in Portugal has made to national development, particularly during the period 1926‐1981, through teacher education. In order to carry out this task, the article traces the changing relationship between the state and the curricula of teacher education and also characterizes generally changes in the education system during the aforementioned period. Finally, additional attention is given to changes in the organizational characteristics of the teacher education process particularly during the decades of the 1970s and the 1980s.

Cet article analyse les contributions que, au Portugal, l'éducation a donné, à travers la formation des enseignants, au développement national. Le travail souligne l'évolution des relations entre l'état et les programmes de formation des eseignants, en décrivant aussi les changements principaux dans le système éducatif qui ont eu lieu pendant cette époque. On analyse aussi, pour conclure, les changements subis par les structures du processus de formation, curtout dans les années 70 et 80.

Este articulo pone de manifiesto la contribución que la educaciôn tuvo para el desarrollo nacional, especialmente durante el período de 1921 a 1981, a través de la formación de profesores. Con la finalidad de poner de relievo esta tarea, el articulo señala la variable relación entre el estado y los curricula de formaciôn de profesores, asi como también caracteriza de una forma general los cambios en el sistema educativo durante el periodo mencionado. Por ultimo, se presta una atenciôn adicional a las transformaciones en las caracteristicas organizacionales del proceso de formación de profesores durante las décadas de 1970 y 1980.

Dieser Artikel untersucht, anhand der Lehrerausbildung, den Beitrag den die Schulbildung zur Entwicklung Portugals, besonders in den Jahren 1926‐1981, geleistet hat. Der Artikel umreißt die sich wandeinen Beziehungen zwischen Staat und Lehrerausbil‐dungscurricula und charakterisiert, im Allgemeinen, Veränderungen des Schulsystems in der o. g. Zeitspanne. Zuletzt werden Veränderungen in der Struktur der Lehrerausbildungsprozesses, besonders in den siebziger und achtizer Jahren, dargestellt.
