Abstract
The two sets of comments on our paper (Patterson and Besner: Is the right hemisphere literate?) might be roughly characterised as follows: Rabinowicz and Moscovitch criticise the paper but do not really disagree with it, while Zaidel and Schweiger disagree with it but do not really criticise it. We shall summarise Rabinowicz and Moscovitch's main criticisms (as we understand them) and Zaidel and Schweiger's main sources of disagreement (likewise), each followed by a short response from us. We hope that the reader will understand (and indeed appreciate) that we restrict our reply to the major points: this is not because we cannot think of anything to say on the other more minor (though often intriguing) points, but rather that we cannot think that anyone would want to read everything we might say.
