Private Sector Participation in the Water and Waste Water Sectors in Egypt: Constraints and Opportunities

Abstract

Without swift and comprehensive regulatory and policy reform and the encouragement of private sector participation, the risk of water scarcity in Egypt in the near future is real. This article describes the current regulatory and legislative impediments to effective and efficient management and operation of water and waste water services and measures being taken to address these.
