Maternal recognition of isolated newborn physical features in the early post-partum period

Abstract

Mothers (n = 40) given a photo-album containing isolated physical features of their newborn baby and other newborns were asked to select their own baby's features. Hairline-forehead was the only feature to be correctly identified more often than expected by chance (p < 0.002).
