Notes

Worley, J. C. Nichols and the Shaping of Kansas City.

Pearson and Pearson, The J. C. Nichols Chronicle.

Longstreth. “J. C. Nichols, the Country Club Plaza, and Notions of Modernity,” 120–35.

The pair of office buildings at L’Enfant Plaza illustrated in figures 154–55 were not for Zeckendorf as Stevens claims. They were designed by Cossutta (in Pei’s newly independent office) in 1962, after Zeckendorf relinquished his interests, for a new developer, and built in 1965–68.
