SUMMARY
This paper concerns a baby who seems stuck and a mother who cannot allow her baby to separate, nor tolerate her own separation anxiety. It goes on to discuss briefly an adult patient who has problems with separation, as an illustration of how a mother-baby observation can inform work with adult patients.
