ABSTRACT

Graphene-modified WC–Co self-lubricating (GO/WC–Co) coatings were prepared via different powder production processes. Compared with the wet ball milling, wet mixing, and sintering and crushing processes, the spray granulation process produces uniform and tight adhesion of the graphene on the surface of the WC–Co powder. The bonding strength and hardness of the resultant coating are approximately 70 MPa and 1000 HV0.3, respectively. Graphene modification causes a 40% reduction in the friction coefficient. During the friction process, the graphene constantly forms a lubricating film that serves as an excellent self-lubricating layer.
