Abstract

An audit of the assessment interview at a Marital and Sexual Difficulties Clinic found a high rate of non-attendance. Sociodemographic data did not differentiate between attenders and non-attenders. Following a pilot study a new procedure for assessment was introduced that led to a significant reduction in non attenders and a significant increase in the number attending for therapy and an improved service to clients. Conducting the audit was very time consuming and the researchers concluded that such an audit may not be feasible without full computerization of data.
