Abstract
This paper examines 10 popular sex education books currently available in Britain. A research method known as content analysis reveals the hidden and implicit images and messages about both sexuality and the processes of sex. The results show that only a normative view of sexuality is offered to young people, with heterosexual, penetrative intercourse between couples in the context of a loving and ongoing relationship affirmed as the valued and authentic means of sexual expression.
