The interface between psychogenic and organic difficulties in men with erectile dysfunction

Pages 285-293 | Published online: 14 Dec 2007

Abstract

It is now considered that between 75% and 90% of men experiencing erectile insufficiency do so for organic reasons. However, all erectile problems have a concomitant psychological component. This paper examines the range of medical treatments that can be offered to a man to help him achieve an erection. It then goes on to discuss how a psychosexual therapist can help that man translate the medically created erection into successful sexual intercourse for him and his partner.
