Statement of Retraction
The following article has been retracted from publication in the Taylor & Francis journal Liquid Crystals:
Yuan Ming Huang; Qing-Lan Ma. Synthesis and mesomorphic properties of three-benzene-ring-containing banana-shaped liquid crystals. Liquid Crystals 2010, 37, 1119–1126.
The Editor and Taylor & Francis received a critical Comment from Professor Weissflog that suggested that the authors did not isolate the target compounds claimed by the chemical formula. This Comment is published immediately after this Statement of Retraction.
Upon investigation, the Editor and Taylor & Francis determined that Professor Weissflog's Comment was valid. As such the article does not confirm with the Journal and Taylor & Francis' Guidelines on Publication Ethics (http://journalauthors.tandf.co.uk/othercategories/ethics.asp), as the stated work is unrepeatable by the authors' peers.
The Editor of Liquid Crystals and Taylor & Francis note that the policy of the Journal is that authors are required to make a warranty to the effect that articles comply with the Guidelines on Publication Ethics. The Journal published this article in good faith. As this is contrary to our stated policy, the article is hereby retracted.
