Abstract

A type of low operation voltage (Vop) and high transmittance liquid crystal (LC) was developed to adopt in fringe-field switching mode monitor display device; the Vop of new LC was reduced from 7.6 V to 5.8 V compared with that of conventional TV LC based on same cell gap. Therefore, novel LC can be driven with monitor driving IC, and the optical efficiency of LC also increased by 5.1% at the same driving voltage compared with that of TV LC. Moreover, the grey-to-grey level response time reached 12.5 ms and contrast ratio was 1561, which meets the mainstream monitor product specification. Meanwhile, we studied the influence of driving voltage on chroma and correlated colour temperature.
