Abstract
The optical threshold and saturation voltages of blue-phase liquid crystal display (BPLCD) with uniform operating electric field are derived in this article. The optical threshold and saturation voltages are proportional to the electrodes’ gap and saturation electric field, but nearly inversely proportional to the square root of the saturation birefringence and cell gap. The ratio of the optical saturation and threshold voltages tends to a constant when the product of the saturation birefringence and cell is large enough. The simulated and experimental results agree with the theoretical results. These results will show important effect on the design of BPLCD.
