ABSTRACT

In this paper a synthesis, liquid crystal behaviours, photoluminescence and thermal conductivity have been described for new sets of unsymmetrical dimeric molecules with coumarin unit at one end connected to chalcones alky substitution by diether. Chemical proposed structure was confirmed by routine analytical methods using FT-IR, 1D NMR and 2D NMR spectroscopy and CHN elemental analysistechniques. The compounds were investigated for liquid crystalline properties using differential scanning calorimetry and polarising optical microscopy with heating assembly. Most of the compounds are showing nematic mesophases with moderate transition ranges. Photoluminescence of compounds was examined and the results indicated that the emission in the blue region reveals that material has blue light emission properties. Moreover, thermal conductivity of the prepared compounds was measured, result indicated that slight change in the structure increased the thermal conductivity.
