Abstract
A refined approach to dielectric relaxation in uniaxial liquid crystals based on the linear response concept is presented. The model is based on the expansion of the conditional probability function in terms of the probability function evolution operator eigenfunctions (instead of the Wigner functions). As a result, the time dependence of the expansion coefficients alm j(t) is not, in general, a single exponential Wigner matrix element autocorrelation function.
