Like former Communist countries in Eastern Europe, Mongolia is seeking new ways of meeting urgent needs for education and training with very limited resources. This article by Bernadette Robinson of the International Extension College, U.K. outlines the circumstances within which distance education is being introduced in Mongolia and through the analysis of some new initiatives examines the feasibility of the role distance education might play in the future.
