In this article the authors report on a selection of findings from the Template Project. The project has set out to re‐design a template used in service industries to evaluate service so that it might be made applicable to distance education course evaluation. Significant findings as to what distance education students perceive as important on their courses are discussed, in particular the ways in which this data might be used by course directors.
