David Richards

Major-General David Richards is currently the British Army's Assistant Chief of the General Staff. In the period 1998 to 2001, he commanded the UK's Joint Force Headquarters, in which guise he took part in a number of military operations around the world. These included command of the British force in East Timor in 1999 and command of the British intervention in Sierra Leone in 2000. In his official capacity he has visited a number of African countries, including South Africa, Mozambique, Kenya, Rwanda, Ghana, Guinea, Gambia and Senegal.
