The uses and justifications for the regulation of intellectual property

Abstract

The US Constitution states that the primary objective for the regulation of intellectual property is the ‘promotion of science and the useful arts’. This objective is too narrow to permit an appreciation of how intellectual property protections are used by inventors, researchers, and engineers.
