CHAMBERS WITHIN THE VALVE OF DIADEMA, GEN. NOV.

&
Pages 39-45 | Published online: 31 Oct 2011

Abstract

A new genus Diadema is described, which is a naviculoid diatom with hollow parietal chambers within the valve wall and an unusual valve structure. The only known species is D. luxuriosa, formerly included in Navicula. The structure of the parietal chambers is compared with analogous features of Mastogloia, Dictyoneis, Diploneis, and Scoliotropis.
