Abstract
A new brackish diatom with a raphe-bearing keel, Entomoneis centrospinosa Osada & H. Kobayasi, sp. nov., is described from Odaito in Notsuke-wan (Notsuke Bay), Bekkai-cho, Nemuro, Hokkaido, Japan. This species is characterized mainly by the conspicuous spines, 1(0)-3 in number, present on both sides of the central nodule externally and by the structure of the wings, which have decussate rows of small puncta.
