Abstract

During a survey of an epipelic diatom assemblage from a North Brittany mud flat, at the mouth of the Dourduff river, numerous taxa were recorded. This paper reports 28 taxa belonging to the genera Cocconeis Ehrenberg, Campyloneis Grunow, Rhaphoneis Ehrenberg, Delphineis Andrews and Mastogloia Thwaites. They are most generally considered as epiphytic, epilithic or epipsammic diatoms. These diatoms were harvested by the lens-tissue technique, during monthly sampling over a complete year. For each species light micrographs are presented, accompanied by references and indications of their seasonal frequency.
