EPILITHIC DIATOMS IN ACID WATER STREAMS FLOWING INTO THE RESERVOIR LLYN BRIANNE

Pages 137-145 | Published online: 31 Oct 2011

Abstract

A four year survey of the diatoms growing on stone surfaces in small streams running into the reservoir Llyn Brianne has revealed a flora dominated by Eunotia species but in each of the fourteen streams a different mixture of species occurs. Comparison with chemical data shows certain clear associations but leave much still unexplained. The results do indicate, however, that the biological data provide easier grouping of sites than do the chemical.
