ON ACHNANTHES AMOENA HUSTEDT

Abstract

Achnanthes amoena Hustedt, known only as a rare species, was commonly found on rocks on a Taiwanese seashore and also in marine fish aquaria. This diatom has been isolated and cultivated in a modified seawater medium and a morphological study made in the scanning electron microscope (SEM). Particular attention was paid to its different cell-forms and valve structure.
