LARGE-CELLED, UNDULATE SPECIES OF THE GENUS STEPHANODISCUS EHR. IN USSR RESERVOIRS: MORPHOLOGY, ECOLOGY AND DISTRIBUTION

Abstract

The results of electron microscope studies of the morphology of Stephanodiscus agasssizensis Håkansson & Kling, S. alpinus Hustedt and S. neoastraea Håkansson & Hickel and data on their ecology and distribution in the USSR reservoirs are presented. With the help of statistical methods (in particular the generalised Machalanobis distance) the taxonomie value of some features are shown and the problems of identification of taxa are discussed.
