Abstract
The morphology of a new diatom species, Aulacoseira dianchiensis, is described from light and scanning electron microscopic observations. The species is known only from the Quaternary sediments of Dianchi Lake, Kumming, southwest China. Elongate spines, distinct mantle grooves and large mantle areolae separate A. dianchiensis from other Aulacoseira taxa.
