Abstract
Cyclotella species are common in sediments from Lake Manitoba. Of these species, two were identified as C. meneghiniana and C. meduanae. In this connection C. gamma also was re-examined. One of the more abundant species found in sediment with higher salinity, at a depth between 2.50m and 3.50m, was identified as C. cf. caspia. Present throughout the core is C. quillensis and morphological details of this species are provided. C. agassizensis sp. nov. is described from the Lake Manitoba samples and is compared with C. quillensis.
