Abstract

Actinodiscus Greville, Craspedoporus Greville, Corona Leféebure & Chenevière and Sextiputeus Ross & Sims, a new genus described in this paper, are all members of the Eupodiscaceae with a raised central portion that may be convex, flat or slightly concave and that slopes abruptiy down to a distal portion with several ocelli situated close to the margin and raised on radial ridges extending from the central portion or on elevations. New species in all of these genera are described and errors in the literature pointed out. In Actinodiscus and Craspedoporus the ocelli are on radial ridges, the two genera differing in the position of their rimoportulae. Corona and Sextiputeus have their ocelli on elevations. Corona has a secondary marginal ridge and its areolae are closely packed and polygonal. Corona magnifica and C. retinervis are separate species, not internal and external views of the same species. Sextiputeus has no secondary marginal ridge and its areolae are circular and not closely packed. All of these genera first appear in the middle Eocene. Corona and Sextiputeus are not present in the Neogene and only one of the five species of Craspedoporus occurs in the Miocene. Four of the nine species of Actinodiscus are confined to the Paleogene, one extends from the late Eocene to the Miocene, in which three others occur, and one is known only from the present day.

The following new species are described: Actinodiscus mascarenensis Ross & Sims, A. italicus Ross & Sims, A. javanicus Ross & Sims, A. philippinarum Ross & Sims, Craspedoporus briggeri Ross & Sims, Sextiputeus inornatus Ross & Sims, Corona temperei Ross & Sims, Corona tetragona Ross & Sims; the following new combinations are made: Actinodiscus contabulatus (A. Schmidt) Ross & Sims, Actinodiscus mutabilis (Hanna & Brigger) Ross & Sims, Actinodiscus corolla (Bran) Ross & Sims, Sextiputeus reticulatus (Hendey & Sims) Ross & Sims; Craspedoporus ralfsianus Greville is designated as lectotype of Craspedoporus Greville; neotypes are selected for Actinodiscus contabulatus (A. Schmidt) Ross & Sims, A. corolla (Bran) Ross & Sims, Craspedoporus truanii Pantocsek.
