Abstract
This paper is a revision of diatoms commonly called Gomphonema dubravicense Pantocsek which proved to be heterogenous. The identity of G. dubravicense is clarified with the help of original material. So far, it is a fossil species only found in European deposits. G. dubravicense sensu auct. nonnull. reported from fossil and recent material from tropical regions in Africa and America is a very different species which is described here as G. krammeri E. Reichardt sp. nov. G. dubravicense sensu Hustedt from South-East Asia, a third taxon which could not be identified as either G. dubravicense nor as G. krammeri is described here as G. hustedtii E. Reichardt sp. nov. G. gallaudii Héribaud which looks somewhat similar to G. dubravicense sensu lato is in all probability an independent species; but studies on original material did not lead to definite conclusions.
