Abstract
The type of the genus Rattrayella, R. oamaruensis (Grunow) De-Toni, is described and illustrated together with nine other species, four of which are new, Rattrayella palaeocenica, R. obovata, R. triangularis and R. glyphodiscoides. One species, R. intermedia (Strelnikova) P.A. Sims is transferred from Glyphodiscus, three species from Pseudauliscus, R. rattrayii (Pantocsek) P.A. Sims, R. kamischevensis (Hendey) P.A. Sims and R. petitii (Leuduger-Fortmorel) P.A. Sims and one from Eupodiscus, Rattrayella simbirskiana (Grunow) P.A. Sims.
The characters of the genus are defined and comparisons made with taxa sharing many of the same characters. The genus Rattrayella is assigned to the Auliscales Gleser. Details of distribution in space and time are provided.
