Abstract
Valve morphology and ultrastructure of Discostella glomerata from Bachmann's slide BRM Ac 2/57 at the Hustedt Diatom Collection and from raw material from lakes Wolfgangsee (Austria), Bodensee (Swiss part), Chiemsee and Schliersee (Germany) were investigated using the light and scanning electron microscopy. This species differs from other related stelligeroid taxa with the marginal fultoportulae positioned between almost every costa. The observed valve morphology and ultrastructure are discussed and compared with those of related species.
