Abstract

Detailed light and electron microscopy of a large number of specimens of the fossil marine Diatom genus Anulopicata (Gleser) Gleser suggest it is impossible to keep the three species separate on morphological grounds. Accordingly, A. concentrica (A. Schmidt) Gleser and A. saratoviana (pantaocsek) Gleser are considered conspecific with A. ornata (Grunow) Gleser. Paralia rossica pantocsek is newly combined with Anuloplicata which is shown to share some unique morphology with Ellerbeckia Crawford and Truania pantocsek and we propose that the three genera belong in one family, the Radialiplicataceae Gleser & Moisseeva.
