Abstract
This study gives a 3-dimensional model for the game of international squash which can be used to determine the probability that a player will win a game, the expected duration of a game, the expected number of handouts in a game and the distribution of the final score. The model is also used to determine the importance of the rallies within a game and the considerable return a player can obtain by “trying harder” on the more important rallies. Statistical analysis is used to show that some players are able to “lift their game” on the more important rallies.
