THE EFFECTS OF SYNTACTIC SEGMENTATION ON THE READING COMPREHENSION OF HEARING IMPAIRED STUDENTS

This study examined the effects of segmenting reading materials into meaningful syntactic units. Hearing impaired students who read at a second‐grade level were given narrative and expository passages in standard and segmented forms. The results indicated that segmentation significantly aided the comprehension of narrative and expository materials.
