Tachylagus, a new lagomorph from the Lac Pelletier Lower Fauna (Eocene: Duchesnean) of Saskatchewan

Pages 230-235 | Received 08 May 1991, Accepted 02 Jul 1991, Published online: 24 Aug 2010

ABSTRACT

Tachylagus gawneae, a new lagomorph from the Lac Pelletier Lower Fauna, is smaller with lower-crowned and more primitive teeth than members of the genus Megalagus, to which it is probably ancestral. Tachylagus may share a common ancestry with Procaprolagus. Relationships with the Mytonolagus-Palaeolagus lineage and with Eocene lagomorphs of Asia are unclear.
