Abstract

An aperture-coupled dielectric resonator antenna loaded with a rotated strip is proposed as a new circularly polarized reflectarray antenna element. The unit cell is fabricated, and its phase response is validated using the waveguide simulator method, where the finite integration technique is used to analyze the 256-element array. Excellent results are obtained with the proposed antenna, with 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth of 30% and 3-dB gain bandwidth of 18%. These results were validated using the transmission-line method.
