ABSTRACT
Excitation of currents on an Infinitely long conductor Is analyzed for horizontal electric dipole or line sources and for a plane-wave, far-field source. Any of these sources can excite strong currents which produce strong scattered fields for detection. Numerical results for these sources Indicate that long conductors produce a strong anomaly over a broad frequency range. The conductor can be either insulated or bare, Co model either ungrounded or grounded conductors.
