The trends in the bioavailability of heavy metals (Cd, Pb, Hg) in Sardina pilchardus and Mullus (Mullus barbatus and Mullus surmuletus) from the western Mediterranean coast of Castellón (Spain) were studied from 1983 to 1989. The possible relationships between heavy metal concentration in fish and exploitation, and the amount of Kg fish landed were discussed by means of Principal Component Analysis (PCA).
