GC and GC/MS methods for analysis of polycyclic aromatic hydro carbon(PAH) in sediment of the grand canal of China

Abstract

A simple but efficient procedure for separation of PAHs from the sediment is presented. Individual PAHs are then analyzed by GC/MS/DS system using a temperature‐programmed retention index method. More than fifty polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are identified from the sediment samples, which are collected at South Jiangsu part of the Grand Canal, Jiangsu province, China, some of them are semi‐quantitatively determined by a multi‐inner‐standard method.
