Abstract
This article presents an overview of the current behaviorally-oriented fear reduction methods that are frequently used with children. After reviewing normative and prevalence data regarding children's fears, the following methods are discussed: systematic desensitization and related procedures, flooding-related therapies, contingency management approaches, modeling procedures, and self-control methods. Research supporting the efficacy of these procedures is also discussed.
