Abstract
This article provides an overview of organizational development preceding the founding of the NASP and a personal account of the NASP's subsequent growth, accomplishments, and shortcomings. It is based upon an address given by the author at the NASP 1993 meeting.

Thomas K. Fagan
Thomas K. Fagan is professor of psychology and Coordinator of School Psychology Programs at The University of Memphis in Memphis, TN. His research interests are in the history and demography of school psychological services. He served as president of the NASP in 1980–1981 and 1987–1988.
