The national primary survey is critical of aspects of the primary curriculum, as Ken Ridley's article in the last issue pointed out. Jack Wilson and Dennis Gunning indicate how some of the Inspectorate's criticisms of topic work can be countered, not by investing in new materials or equipment but by a conscious change in styles of questioning.
