In the present political and economic situation the case for education needs arguing clearly, persuasively and vigorously. George Cooke, formerly County Education Officer for Lincolnshire and Vice-Chairman of the Warnock Committee, provides such arguments to support his plea for action on the recommendations of Warnock. It is not just politicians whom he calls on to reflect and to act; those of us in ‘main-stream’ educational institutions need also to consider its implications. The evidence suggests that we have been slow at doing this — understandably perhaps, but regrettably all the same.
