Notes on contributors

Margaret Cook

Margaret Cook has taught in a variety of primary and secondary schools and at the time of writing the article was second deputy, in charge of the infant department at Egremont Primary School.

Don Williamson

Don Williamson is also on the staff of the school and holds a scale two post. Their article presents a detailed analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of work cards, text books, work sheets and work books. No one best buy emerges; the ‘technologies’ are not usually interchangeable. But some interesting problems are raised, for example ‘the A4 curriculum’.
