Mike Torbe

Mike Torbe, English Adviser for Coventry LEA, addresses our attention to some issues in language and literacy which we will consider in this and in our next issue. With two of his teacher-colleagues, he explores ‘what we need to know about language to be successful teachers’. Their starting-points are significant ‘language events’: contributors who follow add their own interpretations and extensions to aspects of language, literacy and learning. Torbe and his colleagues set the context for the discussion in their own classroom-based observations.
