Abstract

Data exist on the prevalence of violence and its impact on young children. Various studies report specific academic and social difficulties resulting from children being at risk due to violence. Resilience factors assist in insulating children residing in homes and/or communities with high incidence of violence. School programs have been designed/reviewed with the purpose of mitigating the impact of the risk factors found in the child's environment.
