The genus Notospennus Huschke 1830 is characterised and additions are made to the description of N. geniculatus (Delle Chiaje) n. comb. The systematics of Lineus tricuspidatus (Quoy & Gaimard) is discussed and the species is transferred to the genus, Notospermus.
